Well we are finally in our new place! we got the keys on the 23rd of June and moved in last Saturday.

We are still recovering but all the unpacking is done! (the gargae is still full of junk though!)

Here are some shots of the mostly complete exterior.
No interior shots as we couldnt get in but all of the electicals and plumbing is finished, aircon installed
and the kitchen should be completed and flooring should start soon!

Fencing and Flooring issues :(

Well this week has been interesting.
We recieved infomaqtion that our back fence neighbour is refusing to pay half of the fencing cost as they already have a fence (very flimsy barbed wire) in place! we have the option of paying for it ourselves or going with some of the other neighbours effected and taking them to VCAT. Grrrrr!

the other issue we ahve had this week is our floorboards.
We really want coffe coloured bamboo floors and the builder told us on tuesday that their original supplier has fallen through. we are worried that if they get another supplier we wont get the quality we are after so we are going to install it ourselves after handover.

We went to the Homeshow on wed morning and found some suppliers (and specials!!!) but it will still cost us extra :(

Apart from that I have been buying decorating stuff! all of our blinds have been ordered (found the ones we were after at 25% off so snapped the whole house worth up)
Went to Ikea and amazingly didnt buy anything! just got lots of ideas.
and I have bought some gorgeous fabric to make a wall hanging for the dining room (i think).

Its from www.inkandspindle.com.au and i have been drooling over their stuff for ages!

Im still on the lookout for some frames, a funky clock, and lamps

We have had an eventful few weeks with painting, doors, arcitraves and our long awaited KITCHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are still a few things to go in the kitchen that are not ready yet and a few mistakes that need fixing. the lower cpboard doors will go on after the floors are in to stop them from getting damaged.

So Joe our lovely builder informed me that we had been plastered today so we went over for a squize. After Tony climbed in the window we got a good look! Looks like a real house now!
I also signed off on the kitchen as we FINALLY got the cabinet drawings after 2 weeks of fustrating phone calls

Frame is nearly finished and garage wall and pillar went up today. The bricks havent been washed yet. Next is the roof trusses!

As I had a day off last week tony and I went shopping for a lounge suite and light fittings.
We found the perfect lounge at Plush and this is what we got:
The Modular and 2 armchairs as well as a fabric ottoman with storage.

The colour is a neutral beige/grey and the ottoman is a grey square pattern and we got some matching cushions.

Went and checked on our block today and preparations for the slab are in full swing! As you can see all of the plastic is down and the polystyrene is sitting next to it ready to be done. judging by the beautiful sunny skies (yay for spring!) our slab is not far away!

OK...So Tony called J (the co-owner of the building company) and apparently our slab is next!!!!YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We call as there has been no action on our block for 3 (long) weeks and we are getting very impatient (there was a time when we thought we would be moving into our beautiful house in september! oh the naivety : ) )

Now we just need it to stop raining so the ground dries out enough to put a slab on!
(running outside to so the reverse rain dance! sorry farmers, i know that thats selfish!)

I took these this morning. The block is very muddy due to rain last night (and i have no idea what the tyres are for!) But at least they have done something! Yes it's a tiny block (420 sq/m) but as we are not fans of gardening or mowing its perfect!

This is the kitchen layout and my inspiration pics. We are also planning an Island bench (on casters) .

We have chosen Cherry red 2pac for the lower cupboards and drawers and white laminex for the upper ones. The bench will be laminex in Ash Dust

Here are our House plans.

The original plans had the kitchen where the dining area is and it was tiny so we extended the original dinig area and made that the kitchen.

We decided to have an extra living area (the theatre/rumpus room) instead of an extra bedroom (lets hope we dont have 10 kids!)

The Alfresco area will be have a built in bar and will be decked which will follow through to the backyard.

Our House has finally strted being built so i thought i would start a blog so we could keep track of it!

Tony and I started looking at houses in March 08 and found our block in the Vaucluse estate in Doreen Melbourne in August 08.

After finalizing the plans we signed contracts with Com-Struct Builders on the 18th December 08 and our land settled on the 8th January 09 (Our wedding day!)

We have had a few delays with the plans in council and Issues with our crap mortgage broker (who FORGOT to submit our grant application so we nearly missed out on the first homeowners grant!)

But its all sorted now and our site excavation began today! (dad called this morning!)
